Bev Stout
I came to Sheffield as a young art student back in the 70’s to what was known as the Art College on Psalter Lane. I was one of the many students who came here as a student then made Sheffield home !
Over the years my art practice has included painting, video, installation and printmaking.
Past work has often included the use of elemental materials and phenomena, utilising their symbolic and metaphorical meanings to create work that resonated beyond its physical presence.
Running alongside this experimental and installative practice has been my strong affiliation to print processes, particularly that of Photo-etching and Cyanotype.
Currently I am recalibrating my practice to incorporate an experimental and less technical way of working within print processes. This is a bold but exciting step for me and I’m looking forward to welcoming the freedom !
I have also enjoyed being part of a collaborative group of 4 artists ‘utk’ since 2002. We have exhibited in a number of galleries, curated shows and created site specific work in alternative spaces or re-purposed buildings.
